Conscious Parenting
“With the past, I have nothing to
do; nor with the future.
I live NOW.” Ralph
Waldo Emerson
|
Being a conscious parent means being
present, being awake and aware.
Being present to the now and having a sense of purpose or
intention. Being
present to THIS moment is just allowing yourself to be whom you
really are. You
don’t need to feel sad or guilty about decisions or things
that happened yesterday. You
don’t need to worry or feel anxious about what will happen
tomorrow.
BE HERE NOW!
The present is truly a gift.
It is the place where all possibilities are available to
you and your children. This
is the moment where you can truly connect to your children. This
is where miracles happen!

|
Here are keys that will help you open the
door to your present. You
can also share these ideas with your children.
They’ll love doing it with you!
-
JUST BREATHE- Breathing shifts our
awareness to the present moment.
When we focus on our breath we become present to what
is. Practice
focusing on your breath by counting each inhalation and
exhalation. You
can do this when you wake up in the morning, when you are
stuck in traffic, when your child rolls his/her eyes at
you…do it anytime, anywhere!
-
MEDITATE- Meditation connects us to
the Source of our Being by quieting our mind and allowing us
to slow down. Play
with different meditations.
You can begin by counting your breaths and observing
your thoughts without getting caught up in them.
Then allow your consciousness to rise higher and
higher until your only awareness is your oneness with All
That Is. You can
also practice a walking meditation, where you simply walk
and become present to your surroundings without letting your
thoughts take over your mind. How does that feel?
-
PLAY WITH YOUR
CHILDREN-
When we let go of everything that we “have to do” and
take time to play with our kids, we stop doing and we start
BEING. We are
fully present to the moment.
We connect easily to them and we have fun and feel
great. You can
try playing a yoga game with your kids, where everybody has
to be an animal and act like it and even race each other.
You can breathe and make noises like this animal.
You can play the game freeze dance and when the music
stop everybody has to freeze in yoga pose!
Just have fun!
-
MAKE TIME FOR
YOURSELF-MAKE YOURSELF A PRIORITY- Through your day take time for yourself.
Make yourself a priority even if it’s just for 10
minutes a day. Dance,
read, meditate, sing, exercise, or do anything that you
love. This will
help you feel good and be more present and joyful for your
loved ones!
-
SET CRYSTAL
CLEAR INTENTIONS-
Ester Hicks recommends setting out intentions for every
segment of our day. When
we practice having clear intentions we become more
productive and efficient.
We also feel great when we accomplish what we set out
to do.
Playing with these ideas will help
you become a more conscious parent.
It will also set a great example for your children to
follow!!!
Have fun!
“If
a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs
the companionship of at least one adult who can share it,
rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the
world we live in.” Rachel Carson
